Artist's Info:
Two Generations- Annie Siegel has been a professional artist for over 35 years. Her work combines drawing, painting and collage in figure and landscape themes. Her studio also shows the traditional watercolour, pastel and drawing of her Dad, Barnett Siegel, who was a professional artist for over 50 years. Coastal Landscapes:
"My first vivid impressions of the West Coast were of the colours and shapes of the beach stone, the tide pools and the windy coastal forests. They inspired designs in my imagination. The play of the light, the wind and the water continually shift and change the forms, rearranging their aspect, altering their possibilities."
Figurative Paintings:
"Movement and the gesture are the most stimulating aspects of figurative painting and drawing to me. Most of my compositions are based on one to ten minute poses that I place in relationship to each other to suggest a story or to interpret an emotional experience. I see the figure as perpetually changing, forming new connections and relationships. Movement is always implicit."
